The DPP shall exercise all powers reasonably necessary to fulfil the following functions of the Ministry—
Rendering legal advice to the National and State Governments and Institutions in all matters relating to criminal law and criminal procedures and any other relevant penal laws;
Supervising investigations, taking cognizance of and prosecuting criminal cases at the National and State levels in accordance with applicable law;
Preparing data and reporting on the rate of crime and submit such report to the Undersecretary;
Undertaking prosecution and appearing before the criminal courts of South Sudan on behalf of the National and the State governments; and;
Performing any other functions or duties that may be assigned to it, or which is reasonably related to the forgoing activities.
