Legislative drafting be defined as the drafting of legislation and any writing which arises out of legislation, but it is primarily the preparation and drafting of legal rules.

Drafting of the most important legal rules of a state, that is to say its acts is usually considered as part of this process.                                                                      

Legislation of course is the enactment of laws of the country, the statute law made by the legislature. But in the modern times it is not enough for a draftsman to be familiar with legislation.
